While the most popular option for B.Com is pursuing a CA (Chartered Accountant), CS (Company Secretary) or an MBA, here are some of the lesser known yet lucrative options.
1: Business Accounting and Taxation (BAT) – This program prepares you for a career as a tax consultant, corporate legal assistant, or a company law assistant.
2: Cost Management Accountant (CMA) – India / Certified Management Accountant (CMA) – USA: Both these certifications prepare students for a professional career in Cost Accounting and Management i.e. in areas of financial planning , analysis, control, decision support, and more. While the CMA-USA can be completed in 6 months -1 year, the CMA India takes a minimum of 3 years to complete. You may do some research before you decide which CMA is best suited for you.
3: Financial Risk Manager (FRM): For a career in banking and finance, FRM is a good choice.
4: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA): ACCA is a globally-recognized accounting qualification that prepares students for careers in Accounting, Tax Consulting, Auditing, Business Valuation, Treasury Management and more.
5: Certified Financial Planner: This six month program prepares students for taking up jobs as a financial consultant or insurance consultant.
6: Certificate in Investment Banking (CIB): This is a comprehensive global certification exam designed to assess a candidate’s expert level understanding of investment banking skills.
7: Post Graduate Diploma in Banking: This 1 year diploma program offers a prepares students for a career in the banking sector.
