Ask a 9th, 10th, or even a 11th class kid, what subjects he/she likes and in most cases you will draw a blank. But ask the same student what subjects he/she doesn’t like, and pat comes the reply. Most students have a ready list of subjects they don’t like, and in some cases its all the subjects they studied so far. So what do you do?
Well it’s okay to not like a few subject (or any subject) that you studied in school or junior college. And if that’s the case, here are a few career options that you may want to consider.
You could take up
- Multimedia/Animation/Graphics – This sounds like fun, something that you probably didn’t learn in school
- Film Making – Yes this could be a serious career option
- Design – Fashion, Interior, Product or any sort of design
- Mass Media /Communication – For all you future journalist and ad-makers
- NGO/Social Work – One of the emerging career options in India
- Catering /Hotel Management
- Law & Legal related courses
- Paramedical degrees: You would still need some science here
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Commercial or Fine Arts
- Sports / Sports Management
- Music/Dance – Yes you can make a career in this.
Most students (and adults too) decide their careers not by what they like, but by the process of elimination. You eliminate all that you dislike and you settle with the one you dislike the least 🙂 And that’s perfectly okay to do so.
